Philippine Superliga teams are still making their reinforcements for the upcoming Invitational Conference in March. Many players already quit on their respective teams and went to other teams. But, will these reinforcements enough?

Petron Tri-Activ Spikers finished runner-up in the 2016 PSL Invitational and Grand Prix. In the roster are Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Mayette Zapanta, Shiela Pineda, Carmina Aganon, April Hingpit, and team captain Frances Molina who was part of the PSL F2 Logistics Manila team in the 20l6 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.

Petron adds players for the Invitational Conference in the name of the former and current Tigresses. Cherry Rondina and Rea Dimaculangan left former team Foton to play in for Petron while Marivic Meneses went out of Generika to join the Tri-Activ Spikers. Another UST standout also joined the team in the name of Carmela Tunay. The UST connection is expected to give W for Petron.

Also, joining the squad is the former De La Salle University standout Mika Aereen Reyes. This 22-year old middle blocker officially joins Petron after playing for F2 Logistics. Mika, a Bulacan-native player, was also part of the PSL F2 Logistics Manila who competed in the FIVB Volleyball World Club.

Generika Life Savers became stronger as they currently added six new players in the roster. Former players of Foton join the said team for 2017 Invitational Conference namely Bia General, Patty Orendain, Angeli Araneta and Carol Cerveza. Also joining the team are Fiola Mae Ceballos (an opposite spiker out of Central Philippine University,) and Mary Grace Masangkay (former setter of Petron out of University of the East).

If ever, it is the first time of Generika Life Savers to join the Invitational Conference. They finished 5th place last 2016 PSL Grand Prix with their imports Polina Liutikova and Darlene Ramdin.

Mecaila Irish May also known as Maica Morada is set to join the Cignal HD Spikers in the Invitational Conference. This versatile player out of Far Eastern University is a former middle blocker of Petron. She is expected to bring the firepower in the Cignal team. Meanwhile, after losing most of its players, Foton’s lone addition is the two-time Best Libero Jennylyn Reyes.

In the F2 Logistics team, only five players would be available to play for the team. I am referring to De La Salle University standouts Cha Cruz, Ara Galang, Cydthealee Demecillo, Abigail Marano  and former CSB Lady Blazer Jannine Navarro. Other players of F2 would not be available for they will compete for their respective school in the UAAP.

Foton and F2 Logistics are both struggling on recruiting players for their rosters. With that, the Philippine Super Liga president Ramon Suzara gave both teams up to the end of this month to arise with a full roster.

Lastly, a new team is ready to take on the competition in the name of United VC. A team that is banked with former Ateneo star Denden Lazaro and former DLSU’s Michele Gumabao.
